Boole 3
Date: Friday 2 May 2008
Location: University College Cork
Time: 10am-4pm

The aim of this conference is to explore how the community can be a source of support within a recovery model in mental health.
Mental health is a community issue. One in four people will struggle with their mental health at some point in their lifetime. This will have a direct or indirect impact on the remaining three out of four.
Real recovery can only take place in the community. Even with the full implementation of the recommendations of the Vision for Change Policy (2006), people with mental health difficulties will remain isolated, stigmatised and disempowered unless the community becomes an active space for support and participation.
This conference will provide a forum to:
- explore what community support means to different stakeholders
- explore where the responsibility to develop supportive communities lays
- identify methodologies and strategies to engage communities
- develop a community network for participation and engagement
Programme details to be circulated soon.
