Altering Images C.R.O.W. PRESENT

THE INTO THE LIGHT CONFERENCE in the Parkway hotel Dunmanway.

True recovery can only take place within the community model. Altering Images came about through the philosophy of C.R.O; W. C.R.O.W. is Community, Recovery, Ownership and Well-being. Various groups and organisations, statutory and voluntary as well as individuals support altering Images in a collaborative way.

C.R.O.W introduced celebrations of mental health into West Cork through events such as World mental Health Day 2006 event in Ban try Boys Club including a community dialogue and a number of Arts event. (Music, performing arts, photographic exercitation, poetry).

In collaboration with the West Cork Mental Health Forum in March 2007 we organised information day, which consisted of all the major health services, voluntary and statutory, groups in West Cork. This event was held in Dunmanway. (A dialogue between the various groups led to the enlargement of the west cork mental health forum).

Altering Images was a driving force behind a number of events in West Cork and around the country including DCU, UCC and Roslyn Park College and once again in collaboration with the West Cork Mental Health Forum

The aims of this conference is, We hope to create an opportunity to engage with our communities in a positive way. This we hope will dispel any fears, reduce the stigma and isolation and therefore create a supportive and healthy communities in West Cork around mental health

The morning will consist of presentations by the three main stake holders
Services users, carers, and service providers.
The after noon with consist of a number of work shops, the work shops will cover such topics as.
Who cares for the carers
Who decides when a carer is no longer a carer.
Who cares ?
What do we want, when, how and where.
